m&m: parov stelar

Mondays & Music
- part 3 -

The "Parov Stelar" Edition

from left to right, the current Parov Stelar Band:
Jerry Di Monza, Max the Sax, Parov Stelar, Cleo Panther, Michael Wittner, and Willie Larsson Jr.

heyhey!
isn't it great to be back?
jk
you wouldn't know
cause i'm the only one who's 'back' here
yup.

so,
i actually planned on rebooting this blog two weeks ago
but the first week, i totally forgot to
and last week, i actually did begin writing a m&m post
it was the 'synth and electro' edition
since, yaknoe, i'm always writing about synth
and chvrches and yea, you get the point,
but i never ended up finishing it because
i hadn't actually been listening to enough 'synth and electro'
to give you guys 5 good songs

sorry about that.

but i'm doing it again,
two weeks late,
but it's here,
with Parov Stelar.

Marcus and I go back a while
maybe a year or so
ever since his music starting popping up
everywhere on korean commercials
and i don't really know why i'm making this whole post for him
(or his band, i should say)
but i guess the fact that i'll be seeing the band LIVE next week
is a good enough excuse, right?
#getexcited

enough rambling,
on to the good stuff -

:

First Track
Parov Stelar Catgroove Coco

i'm kicking this list off with something very Parov Stelar
pure pure pure electro-swing
it's that classy-funky music idk
i feel like i'm on a runway when i'm listening to Stelar
idk really, but Stelar is by far the best in this field
nobody really compares to his jazzy electro

Catgroove is one of the first tracks i came across with Marcus
( btw, Marcus Füreder is Parov Stelar's real name )
it was love at first sound.
and yes,
love at first sound is a thing now
i'm making it a thing okay deal with.

i'm not including "also check out"s for individual songs
cause well, they're all by Stelar or the Parov Stelar Band (PSB)
i'll chuck a few links in towards the end :3

:

Second Track
Parov Stelar Nobody's Fool (feat. Cleo Panther) The Princess

intorducing Cleo Panther,
the muse of the team.

just like CHVRCHES has Mayberry,
and Of Monsters And Men has Nanna,
the amazing Parov Stelar Band
has a fittingly amazing female vocalist,
Cleo Panther.

you do not know how utterly excited i am
to see her live, in front of my eyes
( literally, i'll be in the front of standing )
next week
if Cleo and i meet eyes, that might be the death of me.

Cleo has such a strong voice
and extreme stage presence,
it's extra.
idkidkidk
i just wanted to praise her somewhere in this post
#fangirling

:

Third Track
Lana Del Rey Dark Paradise Parov Stelar Official Remix

yes
Marcus remixed Lana
and it was official,
like Lana liked it enough to release a remix single
...
excuse me while i have a fangirl breakdown

( jk, already did that when this first came out )

i like how Marcus didn't alter too much of the original
like, the overall composition is pretty much identical
no funky filters over vocals or anything
it's just that he took away some of the 'Dark'
in 'Dark Paradise' and added more 'Paradise'
and yes, that bass line
THAT BASS LINE
*dies*
you have to admit that that bass line is killerrrr

:

Fourth Track
Bryan Ferry Love Is The Drug (Parov Stelar Remix) The Art Of Sampling

the number #1 track i'm looking forward to seeing next week
please perform it Marcus, please.
although it isn't Cleo
Bryan Ferry's voice
it is a very masculinely sexy voice
and super fitting to Stelar the sound jafeel?

when i listen to this,
i feel like watching a dinner show circa the musical Chicago
but then some electro musician flew in from the 21st century
and threw in some sweet drops

sorry, i used the word sweet with the word drop.
not doing that again, sorry.

anyhoo,
this new set of Stelar music this year has been great
but also pretty different from previous Stelar albums
you can clearly see that he's experimenting with more of the
'electro' side of 'electro-swing' while retaining that sweet, sweet jazz
now that's the right time to use the word sweet
#sugarrr

:

Fifth Track
Parov Stelar A Song For Crickets The Princess

The Princess is my favorite Stelar album
( with The Art Of Sampling in a close second place atm )
and i thought why not end the post
with something relaxing from the album
so, my pick is,
A Song For Crickets,
i mean, any song with the sound of crickets chirping
is pretty darn relaxing if you ask me
legit,
every single relaxing-soundscapes app i've ever downloaded
has the sound of crickets

besides the crickets,
the soft jazz
and little electro
and whosever voice that is (Cleo?)
really adds to the im-in-my-garden-with-a-jazz-band-im-so-classy-and-relaxed
ambience
jafeel??

this is what i've been sleeping to on the school/public bus for a while now
i never knew i could sleep to Stelar,
but well,
now i know,
and so do you.

:

it's been hard condensing Parov Stelar tracks to five
if i could, tbh, i'd write about every Stelar song i've heard
so here are my honorable mentions:

Sunny Bunny Blues (feat. Veda36)
freaking rap and electro-swing #yesplease
( here )

All Night
if you're korean and haven't been living under a rock,
you'll recognize this one
( here )

Monster (Original Version)
this should be the bgm to a psychedelic iphone game
i'd have so much fun with it, tbh
( here )

Requiem For Annie
if you want something sad-creepy but also Parov Stelar, this is for you
( here )

The Snake (Alle Farben Remix)
i never liked The Snake but, oh yes, this is good, so so good
( here )

:

i'll make a post post-concert next week

till then,
i'll see you everyday till then actually :)
